The HCMC Association of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, abbreviated TESOL HCMC, was established on 28/10/2005 by the late Dr. Do Huy Thinh. Having been the founding president who laid the keystones for the construction of a TESOL-related association in Ho Chi Minh City, he spent his whole life dedicating to education, especially in the field of researching and teaching English. Unites all pre-service and in-service teachers, PhD candidates, lecturers, researchers
Starts locally before reaching a global community
Updates the latest ELT achievements and trends
Renovates teaching materials, curriculum, textbooks, methodologies
Assesses teaching and learning quality
Serves as a meeting point for educational researchers.

In fact TEOL HCMC had fully developed into a recognized, official teaching association in this most dynamic city of Vietnam thanks to Dr. Thinh’s leadership qualities: he was taking TESOL HCMC’s researching and teaching culture to the international level before his unexpected passing.

Currently, TESOL HCMC has been at the beginning of its fourth term with the president being Dr. Doan Thi Hue Dung, Head of Foreign Languages Deparment, Nong Lam University of Ho Chi Minh. Having inherited the legacy of our visionary predecessors, TESOL HCMC board members continues to affirm its sense of sharing knowledge and best practice in researching and teaching. We aims to achieve professionalism in our local TESOL community.

In light of that philosophy, TESOL HCMC is now calling for participation from all pre-service and in-service teachers, PhD candidates, and lecturers regardless of your sex, age, religious beliefs and origins. Together we can build a thriving and committed TESOL community.
